How to Shrink Pores Naturally

Everybody wants smooth and radiant skin. Enlarged pores get in the way of that. Genetic and environmental factors, aging, and inadequate skin care can all work together to cause large unsightly pores.

Dermatologists use a number of treatments to help reduce the size of enlarged pores. Unfortunately, these medical procedures are deemed “cosmetic” by health insurance companies and almost always are not covered. There are, however, several affordable natural remedies that you can employ at home to cleanse and reduce the size of your pores.

Basic Skin Care To Shrink Large Pores

Following smart skin care tips can help reduce the appearance of large pores. Regular cleaning removes the excess oils that clog pores, causing them to enlarge. Using a face wash containing Vitamin C not only will remove dirt and oil but also will increase elastin and collagen and thereby shrink the pores.

Natural Home Remedies To Shrink Pores

Over the centuries, people have developed several home remedies to shrink pores and make skin look more vibrant.

Almond Paste – Soak the almonds in hot water overnight. Add granulated sugar, powdered sugar, corn syrup and water. Crush almonds into a paste and apply to the face for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and apply an astringent like witch hazel.

Salt And Buttermilk – Mix ¼ cup of buttermilk and ½ cup sea salt in a bowl until you have a paste. Apply to the face for at least 15 minutes but no more than 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water and dry your face. Rich in lactic acid, buttermilk acts to tighten the skin. Salt is a natural exfoliant that removes dirt, oil, and dead dry skin cells.

Rose Water, Cucumbers, And Lemon Juice – Mix one cup of rose water, ½ cup of cucumber juice, and 1 tbs. lemon juice. Apply to the face regularly, and your pores will shrink over time.

Egg Whites And Lemon Juice – Egg whites tighten the skin and shrink pores. Beat the white of one egg and add 1 tsp. lemon juice. Apply evenly to the face and let dry.  Wash off with lukewarm water, and then finish with a splash of cold water.

All Natural Sugar Scrub – Mix 1 tsp. each of lemon juice, honey, and olive oil. Add a few crystals of sugar and gently rub on your face. Finish with a splash of ice cold water.

There are many food products in your kitchen that will also help with enlarged pores. Tomato pulp and apricot can be blended into a paste. Crush lettuce leaves to extract the juice, add 1 tsp. lemon juice, and apply to the face for 20 minutes. Orange, papaya, peach, and pineapple juices all have astringent qualities.

Natural Clay Masks

Clay masks are very effective at reducing pores by penetrating deep into the skin, removing oils and impurities, and adding vital nutrients back into the skin. Any color clay will do.  Mix 1 tbsp. of clay and 1 tsp. distilled water. Green tea with its antioxidant properties can be substituted for water. Mix to a uniform consistency, apply to the face, let dry for 20 minutes, and then rinse

10 Easy Steps to Minimize Your Pores

Large pores can have a dramatically negative effect on your appearance. They are caused by excess oil in your skin. The pores open wider to let the oil out. When dirt mixes with the oils, it clogs the pores, making them stay big.  Fortunately, your pores don’t have to stay that way. Here are ten easy steps you can take to reduce the size of your pores and make yourself look young again.

1. Don’t Use Acne Products that Contain Peroxides, Alcohols, or Acids

These products might tighten the skin and reduce the size of the pores, but the effect is only temporary. Harsh astringent acne care products encourage the oil glands to over produce, leading to a long term increase in the size of your pores.

 2. Exfoliate With A Quality Sugar Scrub

Sugar has been used since ancient times for skin care. The natural acids provided by sugar smooth lines, shrink pores, remove dead cells, and remove dirt.

3. Make Your Own Pore Shrinking Mask

Making a homemade skin care mask is easy. Use 2 egg whites, 1 tbsp. lemon juice, 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar and mix together. Apply it to your face, and leave it there for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse the mask off using warm water, and then use witch hazel to finish cleaning larger pores.

4. Limit how much make up you wear on your cheeks or areas that have large pores.

Using heavy foundations can clog your pores and make them look even larger. If you have to wear make-up during the day, remove it as soon as you get home.

 5. Try Microdermabrasion

You can do this at a spa or use a home kit. Microdermabrasion uses tiny grains to remove the surface layer of your skin. It is used as a medic al procedure, in salons, and can now be performed at home.

 6. Use An Alcohol Free Toner Daily

An alcohol free hydrating toner closes pores and prevents infection by blocking the absorption of bacteria. After cleaning your face, apply the toner using a cotton ball or pad.  Blot the skin to dry.

 7. Use the power of steam

Steam pulls dirt and oil out of your pores, making them appear smaller. You can go to a spa for this, or do it at home by putting a towel over your head and holding your face over a pot of boiling water. Do this for 10 minutes, and repeat two to three times a week.

8. Tomatoes and Cucumbers

Tomatoes and Cucumbers have astringent properties that tighten the skin and reduce the size of pores. Mash up a tomato or cucumber with a fork, mix with yogurt, and apply to clean dry skin. Let it site for 20 minutes and wash off with a warm, wet towel.

9. Splash Your Face with Cold Water

Cold water shrinks and minimizes pores. You can splash cold water on your face, take a cold shower, or rub an ice cube on your face before going to bed.

10. Use A Pore Minimizer

Pore minimizers use natural ingredients to reduce and minimize pores. Products such as Revitol Pore Minimizer combine the properties of several key safe and effective ingredients to minimize the appearance of pores.
