How to Unclog Your Clogged Pores

Skin pores can become clogged with oil, dirt, and dead skin cells.  Even if you wash daily with soap and water, your pores can become clogged.  In time, these clogged pores can become blackheads or white heads.  To unclog these pores, you need to bring the contents up to the surface so they can be removed.

Basic Four Step Process To Unclog Pores

  1. Exfoliate – Exfoliating is the removal of old dead skin cells.  An exfoliating face wash contains tiny grains that will gently buff your skin and remove the dead cells that can eventually clog pores.  Apply the face wash with your fingertips, rinse off with cool water, and pat dry with a towel.
  2. Apply Toner – Use a toner that contains salicylic acid.  Use a cotton ball to spread the toner on your clean skin every night.  Leave it on the skin to air dry.
  3. Use A Facial Mask – There is no shortage of facial masks on the market that can be used to unclog pores.  Clay and peel off mas are designed to be used once a week.  Apply and remove the mask according to the instructions.  Masks get deep into the pores, dislodging the contents.  When the mask is peeled away, the clogs are pulled out of the skin.
  4. Steam Bath – Treat your skin to a steam bath one to two times a week.  Bring a pot of water to a boil and remove it from the heat to a sturdy surface.  Drape a bath towel over your head and stand 18 inches above the pot of steaming hot water for 5 minutes to open the pores.  Don’t hold your face too close to the water, or you can get a steam burn.

Simple Natural Remedies For Clogged Pores

There are many natural ways to fight clogged pores, starting with drinking plenty of water.  Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day flushes your entire body, including your skin, of toxins.  Other natural ways to unclog your pores are:

  1. Lemon Juice – Washing with lemon juice melts away the oils on your skin.  It doesn’t clean deep into the pores, but washing with lemon juice is one of the fastest ways to unclog your pores.
  2. Clay Masks – Clay masks help to bring clogs to the surface.  If your pores are deeply clogged, it might take several applications to completely remove all impurities.  Clay masks work best in conjunction with other remedies and cleaning regimens.
  3. Homemade Facial Scrubs – All natural homemade facial scrubs are much more economical that prescription or over that counter medicated scrubs.  A very basic facial scrub can be made by mixing 3 Tbsp. baking soda with water to form a paste.  The same amount of cornmeal works as well, and is more potent.  Gently apply these scrubs in a circular motion.  Rinse with warm water, and then finish with a splash of cold water.

Clogged pores are unsightly.  They make the skin appear old and tired.  Unclogging your pores adds vitality and radiance to your skin, making you look younger. Once pores are unclogged, it becomes much easier to reduce their size.
